Class A Loop Controller
Daisy start and daisy feedback ports. The in rack sensor chain returns to the base unit, so a single open anywhere in the loop keeps every sensor connected. The Class A circuit fire engineers expect from NFPA 72.
All Three Stages, One Base Unit
Stage 1 abuse sensors and the R-GAS-FLAMMABLE on the probes, D-OFFGAS-RUNAWAY on the loop. One P-BASE-8 covers abuse, off-gas, thermal runaway and flammable gas.
Four Direct Probes
Direct support for the Stage 1 abuse sensors: temperature, dust, corrosion, flooding, grounding, shock and vibration. The standalone R-GAS-FLAMMABLE can connect as an option. No hub.
In Rack & Room Level
The only platform to offer both: D-OFFGAS-RUNAWAY in the rack on the Class A loop, R-GAS-FLAMMABLE at row and room level on the probes, per NFPA 855 and NFPA 69.
Six Relay Outputs
Six dry contact relays built in. Drive beacons, panel inputs, ventilation or contactors at room level, without an add on module.
Open Integration
SNMP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, BACnet IP and MQTT. Readings, alarms and the thermal runaway state go to the BMS, fire panel, DCIM or NMS you already run.
Two Components, One Cable
Sensor and base unit. One RJ45 cable up to 100 m carries data and power. No hubs, switches, terminators or industrial PC.
Flexible Power
PoE, 24 to 48 VDC on the terminal block, or a 12 VDC adapter. One unit covers IT rooms, containers and substations.
On Board Data Logging
2 GB of sensor history stored on the unit. Readings survive a network outage and remain available for incident review.

Class A Loop Controller
Off-gas only systems daisy chain their sensors as a terminated chain, Class B: one open, a pulled patch cable or a damaged run, and every sensor beyond it goes dark. The P-BASE-8 is built to close that chain into a loop.
- Daisy start: the first sensor of the chain connects here.
- Daisy feedback: the last sensor of the chain returns to the base unit here. Both ends of the loop are connected and supervised.
- Class A behaviour: a single open anywhere in the loop keeps every sensor connected and reporting from one side or the other. This is the Class A circuit fire engineers expect from NFPA 72, delivered on RJ45 CAT 6/7 instead of a proprietary bus.
- Built for Gen 4: the D-OFFGAS-RUNAWAY and the other daisy chained Prevent-iON® sensors are designed around this loop, with the P-BASE-8 as their controller.
- One loop, a whole row: a row of battery racks, two sensors per rack, on one loop back to the base unit, with no sensor lost to a single open and no cable run per rack.
- Four probes stay free: the loop uses its own two ports. The sensor probes remain available for the R-GAS-FLAMMABLE and the Stage 1 abuse sensors.
Why it matters: in a BESS container or battery room the cable is the part most likely to be disturbed during service. Class A wiring is the difference between losing one connection and losing the row.
In Rack & Room Level Detection
In rack detection tells you which rack is in trouble. Room level detection tells you when the room itself is becoming hazardous. Prevent-iON® is the only platform to offer both, and the P-BASE-8 is where both connect.
- In the rack, on the loop: D-OFFGAS-RUNAWAY, off-gas and thermal runaway detection, with two relays per sensor for in rack action.
- Row and room level, on the probes: R-GAS-FLAMMABLE, off-gas and flammable gas detection, ETL Listed to UL 2075, as required by NFPA 855 and NFPA 69.
- One platform, one integration: both report over the same open protocols from the same base unit, so the BMS, fire panel and DCIM see one system, not two.
